VI:
Soveriegn States Speak Out Against English Actions in
Scotland
Brussels, Belgium (AP)
Many nations issued statements today concerning the
conflict in response to
a Scottish inquiry as to their official foreign policy
positions.
Ireland: It is obvious that England desires little more
than to unify the
British Isles again, and to save the face that they
believe to have lost
when your nation split with them last year. It is just
England now. It
hasn't been such for almost three hundred years. Though
your actions were
hasty in the mobilization of your armed forces, the
English response has
been belligerant, and extremely distasteful. If England
truly desired peace,
they would respect your right to a national navy and
would not infringe upon
your rights as an independent sovereign state.
Russia: Scotland provoked much of England's response
through the
mobilization of Scottish military forces. If Scotland
truly did not wish any
sort of military actions be taken, Scotland would have
taken a much more
passifistic diplomatic route, seeking aid from the
international courts
before making threatening actions against England. War
is a horrible thing,
Mr. President, especially if it is to be fought over
oil fields, pride, and
misconceptions of another people's way of life.
China: English violations of Scottish territorial
waters are outrageous, and
Scotland is totally in the right in demanding English
withdrawal. Perhaps
armed forces mobilization was a bit hasty, but now that
the English
government is piling more and more troops on your
boarder, it has become
painfully evident to the Chinese government that
England desires no peace.
It would appear to us that England has no respect for
the international
community, and is interested solely in saving face they
believe they had
lost when Scotland split last year
Japan: The Japanese government believes that such
trivial infighting between
democratic nations is childish and draining upon the
resources of the free
world. Instead of facing off against one another, you
should be pursuing
economic paths, looking to improve the economy of the
Western world (and, of
course, our own nation of Japan). By continuing this
pathetic display of
nationalism, we fear that you will only be hurting us
all in the long run,
by presenting to the East a disunited front. If war
breaks out between
England and Scotland, we will have no choice but to
side with the United
States and impose several severe economic sanctions on
both your nations.
These comments by some of the more influential world
political players seem
to all point to the same conclusion: England should
pull out and leave
Scotland with her sovereignty. It would seem that, in
lieu of the recent
events, that public opinion in the world is turning
away from the English
cause. The United States today announced that it was
ready to side with
Japan in the creation of economic sanctions against the
aggressor should an
all-out war be declared.
Nordic Union Sends Recce Planes: Violates English
Airspace
London, England (CNN)
A Finnish Hawk Mk51 took off yesterday from a base in
southern Finland, and
was spotted by English radar entering into English
airspace at exactly
20:39:12 GMT. Flying over Northern England, the plane
was allowed to collect
its data and return home. The English government took
no actions as the
plane photographed several key English military
installations along the
Scottish boarder, and identified several English ships
in Scottish waters.
Chinese Ambassador Joins President Scott for Tea
Edinburgh, Scotland (AP)
Amid the torrent of images coming out of Scotland
depicting the unarmed
Scottish boarder guards facing off against encroaching
English Challenger
IIs, reports today showed a much different side of the
Scottish government.
The Chinese Ambassador Yu Yung Kim (Hehe) made a state
visit to the
government house in Edinburgh today for discussions
with Scotland concerning
the recent developements facing the Scottish government
concerning England
and English military positions. The talks were fruitful
for the Scottish
leader, producing garuntees of Chinese support in
international talks, and a
preliminary agreement (should Scotland accept) of
Chinese equipment being
shipped to Scotland for defensive purposes.
France Issues Press Statement, Withdraws Forces from
Scotland
Paris, France (AP)
French President CJ Blake called an emergency press
conference today, and
announced to the attendees that the French government
would be pulling ships
back away from Scottish waters, and ordering all
alerted units to stand
down. The President also issued the following
statement:
Press Conference
Paris
"Welcome all, and thank you for coming.
War is arguably one of the things in this world that
is best avoided. Too
many times in history men and women have been called to
arms, have fought,
and have died in conflicts that could have been avoided
if the leaders of
the involved nations had simply been able to do
everything they could to
avoid conflict.
Right now, we face another potentially dangerous
situation. Two countries,
both of which had been united less than 2 years ago,
are facing each other
across a guarded border. Each other's weapons are
pointed across to the other side, waiting for orders to
pull the trigger.
It is the decision of this government that enough is
enough. As of this
moment, French forces are pulling back to base, and
alert units are standing
down.
This has been done to set an example for these two
nations. Hopefully,
they will see to it that their
forces will too stand down, that they will draw back
from the border that
they both are defending at all
costs.
It is only by doing this that conflict can be avoided,
that no more blood
will be shed when it could be avoided.
I would like to announce that this government will be
attending the peace
talks if at all possible, and urge all invited nations
to attend.
Thank you."
France Promises Monetary, Industrial Aid to Balkan
Union
Athens, Greece
To further flavor the talks here in Athens, the French
government announced
today that it would be willing to supply the Balkan
Union with industrial
equipment for the next three years, and will assist in
the construction of
factories throughout the Union. Such sweeteners
continue to tempt the
Serbian and Bulgarian delegates, as it appears that the
formation of the
Balkan Union may be getting ahead of schedule.
These promises come at an odd time for the French
government, after just
hiking taxes and interest rates by amounts not seen for
nearly 10 years. The
French government insists that the slight economic
stagnation which may
occur would only be temporary and, thus, be well-worth
the revenue and
economic boost provided later on.
Egypt Stands Down
Tel Aviv, Israel
Egyptian forces stood down from the Israeli boarder
today, evidently
unwilling to combat the Israeli air force without
substantial assistance
from Iran, who is already embroiled in talks designed
to turn Saudi Arabia
into another puppet state for the Iranian government.
Israel, it would seem,
was very lucky this time, though the question still
remains: what will
Israel do when presented by another united Arab front
even stronger than
ones in the past?
